GMDSS float free satellite emergency positioning beacon
This will be activated and immediately start to transmit vessel identity and positioning signals to the SARSAT/COSPAS satellites if the vessel sinks. Then the EPIRB will be automatically released from it’s bracket when subjected to water-pressure at 2-4 meter depth, and then float up to the surface. Due to the function of the seawater contacts it will automatically be activated and start to transmit.
A controlled distress situation allows so, this can be taken out of the bracket and manually activated by breaking the seal and pulling out the safety pin.
The satellite forwards the signal to a ground receiving station (LUT) where also the position will be calculated and transferred to a Mission Control Center (RCC) which co-ordinate the rescue operation. The search and rescue forces (SAR) brings the distress to safety and deactivates it.
The necessary command will be sent to the right Rescue Control Center (RCC), which coordinate the rescue operation. The search And Rescue forces (SAR) brings the distress to a satisfactory conclusion and deactivates it.
This offers manual and automatic activation, is physically small and can be mounted anyway up.
